A Funny 9-Ball Story

I was at an APA bar in NY, playing one of the better players (7 is the highest? - I think that is what he is). We were playing 9-ball. He broke the balls and the 8 ball broke clean in half. Both halves stayed on the table, and they were intact, except for a small portion which broke into about 50 crumbs and flew all over the place. He was all excited and was going around getting everyone to see what he did and asking the owner if he could keep the ball. Once a lot of people were near the table, looking at the broken ball, I bent down and picked up one of the crumbs from the floor, told him that the ball (or part of it) flew off the table, and called a foul. He was still complaining as I took ball in hand and ran out.

Andy,

Could you tell us how you managed to make the 8 ball if it was in so many pieces?

Also, I think I have heard that APA goes up to level 9 in nine ball.

Never seen an object ball break but have seen the cueball bust a chunk out more than once.
And oh, it is SL9 in APA nine ball. SL7 is eight ball.

The foul was a ball off the table. It is not spotted.. (or pasted back together either) BIH to incoming player.. :p
