About 20 years ago Chalkers in San Francisco had great learning tool. It was a spiral bound booklet about 4" wide by 10" long. When opened you had a scale pool table printed on one side. On this side you could draw in the positions of the CB & Ob. On the opposite side was a large area that enabled you to write in the shot specifics. (1 tip low & 2 tips outside & medium speed) Great tool to take info from DVD to the pool table.

I use this:

It's much smaller which I think makes it more convenient because it easily fits into a case pocket, jeans pocket, or shirt pocket. It has a graphical way to indicate where on the cue ball to hit and the speed of the shot, plus a couple lines for additional notes. Great little book.

Maybe 20 years ago it served more of a purpose but it's value has become obviated by the availability of cell phone cameras.....just set up any shot again if you miss it and take a photo of that shot.....looking at a photo is a lot better than looking at a sketch.....or else take a photo of a particular shot before you even attempt the shot.....or take a video if you prefer.......time to step up and start using modern day tools........JMO.
