A rare ending....

In a close 8-ball game, I am on the eight, but the cue ball, the eight ball, and my opponent's last ball (the 9) are all (not quite) frozen to the short rail, in that order.

I considered playing safe, but instead I took the risk: I shot the CB into the eight, and the eight into the nine. As planned (hoped), both the eight and nine rolled into the corner, the nine ball falling first.

So I won by clearing my opponent's balls before sinking the eight.

Anyone else have a weird ending?

That's rare but not so weird. A couple of really weird ones would be these three. Those games were all last pocket 8 ball with some bar rules played on a barbox.

1. I was still a beginner, and I played that game together with my two friends against a guy and a girl. Every single time I got to shoot, I missed, but literally every ball slopped somewhere else. And there was me, aiming at my last OB, hoping to shoot it into the nearest pocket, and then bother with dragging the 8 to that pocket. Of course I missed and the OB ended up in the pocket next to the black  I dropped the 8 and we won, still not believing what happened in that magical game.

2. Many months later, I was playing a match against a friend (or it was team play, like I remember...), we already had our last pocket (left pocket in the kitchen area) and it was my turn. The problem was, the 8 was frozen on the short rail in the kitchen but next to the right pocket, and the CB was also placed next to the right pocket, but near the opposite short rail (hope you get the picture). I considered playing safe or shooting it off the rail, but I had that hunch telling me to shoot directly. It was practically impossible cause it was an almost 90 degree shot across the table, but why not? So I aimed down and fired away full speed, trying to hit the very edge of the 8. I still clearly remember the moment when the 8 rolled slowly, touching the rail the whole time, straight into the last pocket.

3. Again, several months later, same table where #2 happened, same friends, same cue. As far as I remember, we didn't play that one so seriously, so I was ready to try all sorts of crazy shots. I was on the 8, but the last pocket was god knows where, and I didn't have one reliable shot available. "To hell with it..." I thought, and slammed the 8 without planning, without aiming and without any explanation. Both the black and the CB flew a circle around the table, with the 8 dropping right into my last pocket, and the CB stopping on a perfectly safe position
