A Solid Promotion

At Gold Crown Billiards in Erie, PA, we have a long standing promotion and policy whereby anyone who purchases a cue from us receives a coupon to play pool free of charge for one full day from open to close on a day of his/her choice (coupon is for 1 player). That free day of pool is our opportunity get to know that person and to add to our regular customer base. The customer gets introduced to other regulars and it gives us a chance to talk about our game and about leagues and tournaments.

We went through the bother of purchasing from Office Max, a business card design computer program and two-sided clean edge printable business cards, so that we could design our own coupons. The front has space for a date and the cue model purchased. The back has space for contact info. The customer is required to fill out the back of the coupon in order to redeem his free day of pool. In this way, we are constantly adding to our mailing list and email data base.

We stock about 150 cues ranging in price from $50 to $400. With this promo, it makes sense to the customer to make a cue purchase at the local billiard room rather than off the internet.

The billiard room business is a people business. We recognize a cue sale can potentially be far more than just a ten minute in and out the door encounter.
 
Great idea. I have been doing something similar for almost 10 years now. We instead give a packet of half price coupons. This makes the customer come back several times and they usually bring a friend. Therefore we get new customers via old ones. Good luck in this tough economy.
