Accu-Stats (BClub) Editing

I just watched a new match from BClub on YouTube. The match was edited with a Shots Only style format.
Not a big fan.
Danny D. was about to tell a boxing story and then......................Shots only. Billy was going into how the air conditioning...............Shots only.

For me, Accu-Stats is a learning tool from the commentary. Without the legends behind the mic, I might as well be watching trick shots on ESPN.

I say no to the the Shots Only format. I would rather miss a few run out racks of the match than to lose some very informative commentary.

Just venting

It's good for getting interest from the general public, since I know a lot of people (non-players) who get a bit frusterated watching someone ponder a shot of 2 or 3 minutes.

I agree though, personally I don't care who is playing most of the time I enjoy listening to Danny, Billy or Grady do commentary.

They do that because youtube limits how long your videos can be. They want to make the match as interesting as possible, after all, they are trying to make money here.

Also keep in mind who they are targeting. The general public might not know about Accu-Stats or BClub. Those are the people they are trying to inform about their product, not us hardcore pool fans. The general public doesn't know the difference between holding the cue ball for a shot or going around 3 rails for position. So I doubt the commentary is a high priority in the editing room.

Personally, I love the commentary and I could watch Accu-Stats all day with Billy and Danny calling the matches. But I think pool players are the only ones who can truly appreciate it. Look at the comments on the youtube videos and what you'll see is a bunch of people hating on the commentators.

I don't agree with the removal of anything out of their product. Accu-Stats is the highest level of watching pool you can get.

The general public will be able to recognize that something is different when watching an Accu-Stats production. Remove the commentary and safety battles and you have a product like every other pool match they have seen on TV. Balls being pocketed.

Remove the peanuts and caramel from a Snickers and you have a 3 Musketeers. Point being, if you remove ANYTHING from an Accu-Stats Production, you have a different product.

As the old saying goes, beggars can't be choosers. When you are getting something for free, it's hard to complain. I too enjoy the commentary, but if it is a match I really enjoy, then I guess I will add the dvd to my collection. Accu-Stats is a business and their business is selling pool dvd's. The way to keep them in business is to support them and buy a dvd once in awhile. No offense intented in this, just my feelings on the matter.

I agree with all that you said.

If BClub on Youtube gives the general public a viewing of what the actual product is, why remove some of the best parts of the product?

I have purchased Many Accu-Stats products. Great company! I wish them the best in their editing decision. If it brings more people to purchase the DVDs, I will be happy for them.
