Every once in a while I try to and find joint protectors for Scruggs cues with this pin. And every time I fail. Can anyone help?

Here's a picture of the joint question:

5/16-14 Acme, like a JW? I didn't know Scruggs made any of those.

Anyway, I'm not a machinist but I have an idea that might be worth exploring. I believe if you take a regular 5/16-14 joint protector and chased the threads out several times to make them sloppy, I believe you could get them to work. I know you wouldn't want to do that with a shaft...but it would work well enough to serve its purpose for a joint protector.

Are you specifically looking for JPs that Tim Scruggs made? If not, you may be able to find a Acme lead screw and actuator nut from a machine that a cuemaker or machinist could pirate to create some. I had this problem with a Cognosenti years back, and I still don't think I've seen a set. Good luck in your search!
