I think it was 1/13 sort of...

An interesting woof came about after Hennessy lost to Gandy Valle in the 9-ball event. John had miscued on a 7-ball which would have put him on the hill. Gandy ran out from there. So, the woof started. Hennessy obviously upset with himself put the challenge out to Gandy. Immediately, the Filipino backing mechanism went to work. Their backer slid on over and asked, "you want Dennis?"

"No, I want him," said John pointing to Gandy.

"I'll give you Leevan," was the answer.

"No, I want him," John said again.

Pause.... both parties look away... John is ready to leave...

"okay, you have him. For five?"

"You got action."

That's how it started, but I never saw it happening. Seconds later, Dennis Orcullo starts sliding over, smelling the money....

John looks over his shoulder, sees him, then looks away.

"What's up?" Dennis asks.

John doesn't even move. Dennis stops, looks at the back of John's head, grins, and walks away. Nobody wants a part of Orcullo.

George Breedlove was in 10-ball action. Races to 9, giving the 9-ball to Lil John. The bets changed and maybe the spot changed. But the winner didn't change. Lil John won all three races that they played. I think that in the middle of set 3, they changed the bet and maybe restarted, but it didn't help George. He clearly was the better player, but he just kept getting slightly out of line, and blew the case runout. Maybe the pressure of playing in front of Jeannette was an issue, I don't know.

Tony Coleman was playing one handed (not jacked up) full rack banks. It think these are the types of high dollar game that those who never see this type of action just can't appreciate the skills of these guys.

Scooter again tried out Trinidad in 9-ball, this time only giving the wild 8-ball. Scooter has a lot of heart, but Trini looked like he was in dead punch. It was rumored the young kid was borrowing $50 for breakfast, but here he was again playing for several bags of sand. Ouch. Trinidad won this one yet again.

This will probably be my last report until I get home. I've recieved a few votes for the Louis Roberts Action and Entertainment Award. I expect more, so please those of you who were at the Derby City Classic this week, read the sticky note, and e-mail your vote to me with all the pertinent information.

Great report Fred! From my days there earlier this week, I know how tough it is to keep everything straight with all the action and the days running into the next day. I'm just wondering if you have a week of vaction planned to recover from this "vacation".

Hey Fred,

What's up? I know you're loving all the action! I need you to do a favor for me. Trini is an old partner of mine (he lived in St. Thomas for number of years and we used to play everyday), but we lost contact a few months ago. If you run into him can you have him call me? My # is 340-998-8180.

Thanks a lot, and enjoy the rest of the tournament. I'll definitely see you there next year!
