Adding Weight

Years ago I had Dieckman build me an extremely light cue. A few years later I added, I think 1.5oz's, bringing it to a hair over 16oz including a rubber grip.

I'm now thinking I want to bring this cue to around 18oz. I've only been toying with this for 2 days so really haven't decided on a specific weight, but went to a Hobby Shop and purchased a couple of strips lead weights with PSA adhesive that's broken into 1/4oz sections and stuck them on top of some painters tape.

OK, still experimenting, but the question is,... Where in the butt to position the added weight once I've made my decision on weight.

I had a discussion with Dennis on this and he said, "if I were to do that, I'd put it where you normally grip the cue."

I'm wondering if that position could mitigate the "FEEL" of a heavier cue? I love the feel of a light cue, but Can I Have Both?
I'm thinking NO!

I guess I have another question on added weight position. A very good US National 3C player told me that a 3C cue should be butt heavy for power strokes.

Putting the weight at the end of the butt is certainly easier than 4or6 inches deep, but I don't care about the cost difference. It can't be too much to drill a deeper hole?

What you cue builders say/think??

Thx
