I'm going to replace a portion of slate liner on the outer edge of a foot slate. It was stored on edge in a damp basement and the outer edge is punky and wouldn't hold staples. I intend to cut away a couple of inches by a foot or so and inset a piece of new poplar. Can I use aliphatic wood glue for both the wood to wood and wood to slate or would an epoxy type be the best choice?
