I've been reading the threads on these topic and have come to beleive you guys are just making this game seem too hard.
Making a ball is really simple.
Putting side spin on a ball is really simple.
Learning both is really simple.
They all require time at the table just hitting balls. Set up shots and just learn where to put the cue ball to make the object ball. Good ole trail and error. No system can replace this. All systems do the same thing, put the cue ball on the table at a point that will cause the object ball to go in the pocket.
Knowledge on how to stroke is the key. I beleive that most people just plain hit too hard or they don't know how to adust their stroke speed. Hence the LD shafts.
The best explaination of aiming ever is in The Straight Pool Bible by Babe Cranfield. There is even tool you can make to help you. I've yet to see any system give you a real world tool to help you.
This is a simple game, stop trying to make it harder than it already is.
