aiming using the shaft

I always step back looking at the angle from the cue ball to Object ball to the pocket....once I dial down what angle it is I get down but at same time as I can center cue ball, I am lining the edge of my shaft to the fractional aiming point on the object ball.

I feel that the aiming I do is kind of little bit of guessing/not very precise on the shot. Is There any aiming system that can teach how to look at the cue ball and angle and how to line up the cue stick on the cue ball to the object ball? I want a system I can relie on my shaft to help me guide me where it going to aim at. There any instructor who shoot using the cue stick/shaft on the object ball???? I've try Pro1 and SEE they both good but I feel like those system is little bit of guessing and not very precise on shot.

anyone heard of Dave Mullen???? I watch his video and it look like he aiming using his shaft. is that true?

There is a stick aiming method (SAM) but I have never used it & am not really that familiar with it. Perhaps Neil can help you. I believe he is familiar with it & perhaps has used it.

I with say this. You mentoned aiming the shaft at the OB. There are cut shots of wide angle where that will not be the case. The shaft will be aligned out past the edge of the OB. I hope you understand this. If you are always aiming the shaft at the contact point you will probably be under cutting a number of shots.

Good Luck on your quest,
Rick

If you feel that CTE/Pro 1 has guessing involved, you aren't using it correctly. Yes, Mullen is using his shaft for aiming. It will work most of the time, but not all the time. It's a matter of using both edges and the center of the shaft to the contact point on the ob.

CTE and 90/90 are both very precise systems done manually. One can argue that Pro1/CTE has "guessing" involved, but it really doesn't when used properly. Both systems put the cue on the right line to make the shot.

Way I was taught to aim base on the Hal Houle System. I just wanna find a system that I can just get down and align the cue stick to the spot and then pivot to center cue ball and shoot it. Which aiming system most likely be easy and understandable for me? or could I say you would recommend me to get.

The easiest is 90/90 by Ron Vitello. The most accurate is CTE/Pro 1 by Stan Shuffett. 90/90 you just line up ETE or ETC, pivot from there to center cb, and shoot.

In CTE/Pro 1, you just get your visuals, then pivot to center cb on your way down on the shot, and you are right where you need to be. Takes longer to learn it properly though.

Have you tried Shane VB aiming & running out video? He has some good tips. Is nothing new tho. I took it to the table and felt the difference. I adjusted a little bit for myself and works for me! I use it but i dont use the object ball as a reference just a spot on the felt or the shadow. Then I put my shaft in that line. When I use extreme outside english or inside I adjust from there as a reference starting point by feel.
