Alex higgins 147

Loads of them. His first was at age 16 in 1968.

One of only a handfull that have ever done a 155.

I think that Alex never had a competitive 147. Anyway just about every top snooker player has had a maximum break in practise games. I'm sure Alex has made a few of 'em.

Only "modern era" world champ that I know hasn't made a maximum even in practise is Terry Griffiths. His highest break is 139

That's because Terry was 'Old School' he never thought about breaks other than getting one big enough to win the frame. I know that from personal experience after playing Terry in an exhibition match, his first after winning the World Title. A guy at our club was from the same Welsh village as Terry and managed to book Terry a few months before he won the title. He turned up with the Trophy and played a few frames against club members, did some trick shots and then talked about the game for about a further 30 mins. Oh and by the way yes he kicked my butt, good and proper!
