Amboyna Sneaky

Hey guys,

I've posted a thread regarding an Amboyna Burl sneaky before. I got some responses and followed up on them, but I'm really still looking.
I want to have a full-splice Amboyna Burl into Rock Maple Sneaky Pete made. Whether or not this would have to be a cored fullsplice or not I'll leave up to the cue-maker, the extra cost is no bother to me. One maker also mentioned adding one or several veneers could improve the structural integrity of the cue, I wouldn't mind that either, but prefer true sneaky.
Obviously it's going to be hard to find a piece of amboyna big enough for the job. There is currently a 2"x2"x24" piece available, would this be big enough length wise? Any recomendations on who to contact for the job? Thanks for your time.

btw Zeeder, I never did see that cue completed......

There are few people who make complete full-splice cues. Some may have different parameters than others but the people who make my full-spliced blanks for me to build trappers from told me that to use my wood I would need to send them pieces at least 1.5 X 1.5 X 26" in length for both the prong and butt. This seems to me to be a lot of wasted wood but I'm sure they know what they need for their operation. Since wood is usually bought at 6" lengths then a 30" piece of exotic wood is needed for a butt. Can get into serious money.

That's a understatment. But even if I had nothing to do I would not build a full splice using Amboyna. Even cored I would not trust it.

That's is the third que-maker who makes his own full-splices that tells me it's a bad idea. I guess I better start listening.............dang no AB sneaky for me.

Dave,
You could make a cored amboyna handle, Then put a small ring or no ring and amboyna points into the forearm. Just join it like a traditional pointed cue. If you are willing to go that way I would say you should have no problem finding a cuemaker to build it for you.
