Does anybody know anything about AMF tables? I have am going to look at it tomorrow but can't find any info on them. It is an 8 footer and the owner stated "This is an AMF pool table, is basically all metal, not sure that you could hurt this thing."

I currently have a seven foot non slate and have been looking to upgrade to an eight foot slate but have not heard of a metal table before. It is only going for $200 and i can sell mine for $300-$400 and pay for it plus the proper install.

Any comments would be very helpfull.

Thanks

Gary

AMF Table

I have that exact table in my livingroom. It's an original Playmaster. They began making them in the 60's for their bowling alleys and for sale in brochures. My table is a 9-footer. I mailed the rails to Oregon to have Pat Sheehan put cushions on them without shims and to restore my skirts and formica. The slate is superthick, it has a great sturdy frame, has little round feet to level the table, and the guy selling is absolutely out of his mind if he is trying to sell it for $200. The table is made out of strong materials, is easy to restore and refinish if you want a project, and is the same dimensions as the Gold Crown but doesn't cost as much. You should snag that table without thinking twice. If it's put together properly, there isn't any difference between it and a Gold Crown.

I have a nine footer too

Maybe slightly newer, but same table. An AMF commercial table from a closed pool room. The table was installed free when I bought it from the room owner. I just moved it into a new room in my house, and must say the construction is internally a Gold Crown. Same 2 inch thick L-shaped Poplar beams on a pedestal mount. Just make sure the slates are not cracked, any other repairs are incidental. The deal is fabulous!

Thanks

I went and checked it out this morning and bought it on the spot. It is in great shape I can't wait to to get it set up in my room.

Wow I just love craigslist. I found this table on it the other day for $200 and then today I posted my 7 foot non slate table for $400.00 and sold it with three hours. Now that will help to offset most the cost to have moved and installed properly instead my trying to save money and screwing things up.
