The first three players from each group will advance into the single knock out stage.

The tournament will start at 11am on 2006/3/1 with the first match featuring Ga Young Kim vs Melissa Herndon.

There is a very interesting rule regarding the break in this tournament. If the player break with the cue ball passing the line but not touching any ball, then the incoming player will have ball in hand from the kitchen; however, if any ball was disturbed but not enough balls have touched the rail for the break to be deemed legal, then the incoming player can have ball in hand anywhere on the table.

Another interesting rule is that a player has a right to inspect a rack by taking not more than 3 seconds, and a right to demand a rerack. However, each player can only demand one rerack from her opponent per game.

Any player who is late 5 minutes will lose one game automatically. An additional game will be deducted for each additional 5 minutes when the player is late; therefore, a player will lose the whole match if she is late for 30 minutes.

I will try to post more updates tomorrow.
