Use reinforcement labels like the following:

Spread the balls any way you like, clusters, no clusters, many balls, few balls, all balls, whatever. Just decide on a typical layout of balls. Then put a label under each ball including the cueball. Then run the balls all the way to the break ball setup. Try to notice what good and bad things happen during your run. Did you get trapped and have to play a difficult shot to get back in line? Was a certain portion of the run easy? And so on. Maybe even write down the order you played the balls if you can remember. Or even better, try to call all the balls before you shoot your first ball, maybe writing this down. If you miss, try your called pattern again.

After your first run, place the balls exactly where they were and run them differently, again noting the good and the bad.

Keep doing this until you settle on the safest way to run them and can do so easily and repeatedly.

I think this kind of practice will vividly show you new ways of seeing the table and give you a sense of confidence once you've repeatedly run a layout the way you've determined to be the most efficient and safest.
