Annoying

It's funny how 3 weeks without a cue in your hand can affect your game. I recently took the family to Disney World for 2 weeks, resulting in a 3 week absence from my 9-ball league. The break didn't help my standing since those weeks don't show up on the statistics, but for overall wins, 9s off the break and league standings, it sucks.

So, after 2 weeks of league back under my belt I am finally starting to hit stride again, although I am still a little ways off from my "A" game. Last night I was playing against the captain of the other team, I broke with no balls made. He started with 3 straight, but 2 made balls were flukes. After his miss, I ran out the table....game 1 to me.

Game 2, his break...he makes a ball, but hooks himself on the 1-ball, however still makes the hit. My turn....I run to the 8-ball....as I line up the shot, which with a little draw, puts me in great shape for an easy 9, my opponent decides to challenge me to bank the 9. WTF!!, I'm game for lots, if this was requested at the start of the game....fine, but as he comes to the realization that he is about to lose...I call BS!! He continues to chatter about this point, even as I line back up and shoot the 8 with great position on the 9.

But, as luck would have it (bad luck of course), I rattle the 9 in the corner...leaving it balancing precariously on the edge of the pocket....I lose. How could he think that this is acceptable? I found it extremely annoying and in poor taste. Ultimately the blame falls on me for not being able to refocus, but his behaviour was far from proper.

My rant for the day....thanks for reading
