Another ball cleaning tip

I've been using Brillianize for a while for routine ball cleaning. Brillianize is a thin spray product that is almost like Windex in consistency. It does a good job of cleaning and brightening the balls. It doesn't do well, though, in removing those pesky impact marks that you get; those end up reduced but still visible.

Last night I tried something new (for billiard balls, that is): Meguiar's Swirl Remover. This is an automotive product that is great for removing the hazy swirl marks that accumulate on your car's finish for various reasons. I've been using this stuff for years. It's great on automotive clearcoats, leaving virtually no hazy marks of its own.

I don't have a ball polisher; I just put some on a rag, polished the balls vigorously, let them dry a bit, then buffed them with a clean cotton rag. The results are excellent. My Aramith Super Pros have been restored to an almost-new appearance. The impact marks are almost completely gone, and the finish is glossy with no residue that I can detect.

Passing this along for what it's worth. You can find this product in most auto parts stores for $8-10, and if you don't like it on your pool balls you can always use it on your car.

Thanks for the tip. I had used Maquiars Headlight Restorer for a while because I could buyh it locally at any Automotive store. I switched to Aramith's Ball Cleaner and have been using that since. I'm pretty happy with the Aramith.
