Another closed pool hall? New York

So I'm traveling to buffalo now after a short lived stop in Rochester, NY. There is a place called "classic billiards" on west ridge road in Rochester and I was gonna see if there was any action in my travels and to my dismay it was closed. No signs up, nothing, it looked deserted. So I'm gonna try my luck in buffalo tonight and then Ohio next week.

I've been to classics before (a few years back) and I liked it a lot. Lots of nice people, ok action and ok playing equipment. Def worth a stop.

It's a shame to see important places in the billiard world shut down and the more I travel, the more I see it.

If you are from buffalo or Ohio don't ask me for action on here. If you see a guy 6ft 4 inches tall with blonde hair about 246 pounds then that's me ask me in person if I do come to your room. I have another month till I feel like working again and have a set trip and time frame for each stop so I can make it home in time. And no, I won't play Hatch! Forget it!

Really sad isn't it! Guy bought the room a year and a half ago. Cleaned it up. Bought a new Diamond Smart Table. Re-did the bar. The owner was a nice guy with what appears to be little retail experience. Only pool room in Rochester for nearly a year. Decided that railbirds and complainers were not welcome. Also decided the memorabilia collected after twenty three years of operation was not worth keeping. Threw it all in the dumpster. A coupe of locals did some "dumpster diving" to save the best. Bought the Diamond but left the eight GC III's in nearly unplayable condition. Lots of players (me included) decided the conditions were just not worth the trip. Understand he packed the room up and moved to Brockport, NY. A small college town about twenty miles West of Rochester. Wish him good luck!

New room opened on the East side of Rochester in the old Ridge Billiards location about three months ago. Twelve new GC V's and four Diamond Smarts. Physically just as nice. Friendlier ownership. Might make it if business picks up.

Wow, just wow. For real? Like I said, I was there years ago and I really enjoyed myself. That's just too bad... Well if he moved the joint to a college town, it prolly will just be for the sake of the kids in that town and not too many real players will surface there. Well, maybe on my next road trip I'll stop by the other place in Rochester and see what happens. Do ya got an address or phone number for that place? Thank you.

Sad indeed, Lyn!

Video games, hard drugs and lazy people are the main reason these places are gonna shut down and then pool will fade into obscurity. So pool is pretty much ****ed. I travel regularly to rooms across the east side of the USA and as I said, see this all the time. Especially the states affected by the smoking laws.
