Can someone in the know please update me on what Cory Deuel is doing, whether he plays alot anymore, is a road player, any information?

Also in retrospect, what caused the decline in his game? I've heard it blamed on golf, is that really the reason?

The pool world misses Cory and they miss his success. He was more then just another good player. At the top of his game, Cory was remarkably dominant, and in addition he was young, attractive, charismatic, and had such unlimited potential that he could take the game into a new era. Many saw him as the Tiger Woods of pool, the figurehead talent that would bring the game into the limelight and give it a new image of professionalism and appeal. When he was missing in action in the winners circle of tournaments for the past couple of years, the dream of a legitimate image of pool faded away, back into the smokey poolhalls from whence it came.

He was at DCC in Jan.He won the ring game the first night they had it for 30,000.

Corey Deuel

Hi Henho,

Corey knew more about breaking a rack of balls than anyone I know of other than Joe Tucker. With his soft break, controlled cue ball and nerves of steel, he dominated the 9 ball scene for a couple of years. Virtually every tour / tournament has now instituted a "four balls past the side pocket" break rule. No longer can Corey dominate. A hard controlled break is now required. I'm sure that his love for golf has hindered his practice time as well. Saw him at the DCC. Watched a couple of tournament sets. He still plays great pool!
