I can tell you about Springfield, MO. From my experiences there last week.
Sir Gregory's Billiards on S. Campbell...It seems like a nice place. The tables are all Olhausen, but the cloth desperately needs to be replaced! I've seen better surfaces on artificial putting greens. The first table that they tried to set me up on had a huge hole in the felt!!! They said that they were supposed to be recovering all of the tables soon due to a big tourney. I'm not betting on it.
Butch's Billiards on W. College...This seems more like an old time billiard parlor. They have all sizes of tables and they keep them up nicely! When I was going to college in Springfield, they were on the North side of town which made it nice as I was living on the North side. This is in a rougher neighborhood, but I had no problems with anyone there or around there(I'm 6'4" and a big guy so that might have had something to do with that).
Billiards of Springfield on E. St. Louis(aka near downtown)...This is a bit more upscale as far as pool halls go. It's quite a bit like every Pool Hall/Sports Bar around. Decent tables, fast paced atmosphere, all in all...a fun place to go shoot a few racks.
Sharky's on N. Glenstone...Your average "strip mall" pool hall. It's a smallish place with plenty of atmosphere. I didn't spend too much time there as I didn't know anyone there. The tables looked to be "ok".
I'm sure that Danny Harriman can tell you quite a bit more about the "action" in Spfld, but that's a quick rap up of the pool halls that I visited on my last trip to Missouri. I'm hoping to find some decent employment down there so that I can move back, I miss all the good fishing and fun times to be had in the area! Many apologies for the mile long post!!!
