Hello all. I'm gonna be moving up to northwest Arkansas in a few months and was wondering if there were any posters that lived there that could tell me about the pool scene. Just mainly want to know the best places to play, the popularity of the sport there, the level of competition, and how the action is around there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can tell you about Springfield, MO. From my experiences there last week.

Sir Gregory's Billiards on S. Campbell...It seems like a nice place. The tables are all Olhausen, but the cloth desperately needs to be replaced! I've seen better surfaces on artificial putting greens. The first table that they tried to set me up on had a huge hole in the felt!!! They said that they were supposed to be recovering all of the tables soon due to a big tourney. I'm not betting on it.

Butch's Billiards on W. College...This seems more like an old time billiard parlor. They have all sizes of tables and they keep them up nicely! When I was going to college in Springfield, they were on the North side of town which made it nice as I was living on the North side. This is in a rougher neighborhood, but I had no problems with anyone there or around there(I'm 6'4" and a big guy so that might have had something to do with that).

Billiards of Springfield on E. St. Louis(aka near downtown)...This is a bit more upscale as far as pool halls go. It's quite a bit like every Pool Hall/Sports Bar around. Decent tables, fast paced atmosphere, all in all...a fun place to go shoot a few racks.

Sharky's on N. Glenstone...Your average "strip mall" pool hall. It's a smallish place with plenty of atmosphere. I didn't spend too much time there as I didn't know anyone there. The tables looked to be "ok".

I'm sure that Danny Harriman can tell you quite a bit more about the "action" in Spfld, but that's a quick rap up of the pool halls that I visited on my last trip to Missouri. I'm hoping to find some decent employment down there so that I can move back, I miss all the good fishing and fun times to be had in the area! Many apologies for the mile long post!!!

Thanks. Springfield is gonna be probably like an hour and a half from where I'll be living. I knew Harriman was from there which leads me to believe that there are probably some good shooters around. I'm not really a good player yet but I like to watch good play and learn from it. Hopefully I can find a place around with good conditions and good people. Later.

If your going to be near Rogers/Bentonville Ark then there is a pool room there.
I have been there and played. Not a bad place. No frills but nice people.

what town are you moving into, that might help with where to play. I have played in most Arkansas

I'm moving to Fayettville, AR. It's around the Betonville area.

I get to Fayetteville occasionally to visit the B-I-L. I think I've played in a couple of rooms in the area but can't remember the names. Thats an awfull nice area though. Pretty country.
