Anybody play Harrigan (AKA Pill Pool)?

I used to play this game every sunday night at my local pool hall. Each player gets 2 pills, one they use to determine the break order. The other one you keep in your pocket and dont tell anyone. That's the pill that determines which ball you want to make once the rack is busted up. If you make your ball before anyone else makes their secret ball, then you collect a dollar from everyone. So much fun and a great gambling game because the money exchanges hands every two minutes. Try it sometime. It's best with 4-5 people. Beware, very addictive too.

Pill pool is great; one of my favorite games. You can lose like 6 games in a row, win 1 game and get back to even. The way we play is if you make your money ball before anyone else does, everybody pays you and the game is over. If one of your opponents makes YOUR ball, you pay them and they continue their run. Essentially, you can get paid TWICE for every game if you break and run out. Great fun and good way to make some quick cash.

I used to play with the full rack (15 balls). Like Nibrobus said, you may lose 6 straight then win one and you're even. It IS VERY addicting! Njhuster1, where in NJ do you shoot?

We used to play "three pill check". You draw 3 pills the 1,8,15 are open to start with, shooting and making the 8 opens up the 7 and 9, shooting the 1 opens the 2 and so on... you can combo stuff as long as a live ball is conatacted first. You have to say "check" when a ball/pill is made. The 16 was a free ball/check if drawn. Was fun.

Yeah, we do all 15. Nothing has to be sank first to get the game going. If you break, and luckily your ball goes in the pocket, then you win, collect your money, balls are re-racked, pills are distributed, and you break again.

we used to call it "One Shot Harrigan" You don't run balls you get one shot per turn to make your ball. You will see the most amazing shots when a player has no choice but to shoot. You can also go a dozen games and never shoot if you don't get the right pills. Although you can win just standing there without shooting if your ball goes on the break or gets knocked in.

We used to play it on a snooker table. It is a good game, but you need to be REAL lucky to win!

to play 'Kelly Pool' quite a bit, but it mostly seems
to be replaced with 'Ring games'. Played in a 6
way Ring game a couple of weeks ago, 10 ball,
with $5 on the 5, and $10 on the 10, plus if the
10 goes down early, it spots back up.
