Hi all,
i bought a set of VERY old ivory pool balls used in 3cussion from end 1800's.
the balls are around 5.5cm each and weight a good 220gr from a friend for an amazing price.
they come with a VERY old, and very nice wooden box, that has 3 holes carved in the wood in the shapes of the 3cussion balls, and 4 extra holes for... (no idea yet... maybe for round chalks? no idea, im trying to figure it out)
the state of the balls are amazing i heared (no dings or holes), and a friend is shipping them this week. i will post pictures as soon as they arive.
i know on ebay they sell like sweet candy, but i wanted to check AZB'er first to see who wants this pritty nice gift. Usually ivory balls come alone, and if in a pack they come in some sloppy paper (carton? that the english word?) box. this one is in a very nice wooden box (only thing missing is one of the joints of the box to keep it together. i could replace that if wished, but for now ill post it in the original state.)
i will post pictures as soon as ups arives!
about the price, its kind of hard to judge. most ivory good balls go for around 250. some more, some lower. it being a set of 2 white and 1 red (the colour ofcourse has aged a bit, wich is normal for balls over 100y old). makes it worth more, and the wooden box containing them is the first of a kind that ive ever seen!! the box cought my eye!!. dont think ive ever seen one like this before
im not sure if most people would want them for the ivory, (preban ivory so no problem shipping it) or for the collection value of them. id rather prefere a buyer who keeps it as a collection. (ok it wouldnt matter to me, but it does, as this set is A-MA-ZING).
i guess the price would be around 1000$ (3x250 for the balls, 150 for the box, and 100 extra as it is a perfect full set), but im open to offers.
i will post pictures ASAP, but i was wondering if people where interested. that way i wont post them on ebay yet. it would be the perfect christmas gift.
