Can you guys give me some advice. I have been looking to join a pool league now that Im out of the military and have my rots more firmly planted. I am by no means in the league of being a professional, I don't run tables and I have a LOT of work to do on my game. On the other hand I don't get my ass run off of the tables either. I can hang in there and manage to win a game every now and then. With that being said which league, BCA or APA, would better suit my level of play? I have contacted the BCA rep for my home town (Omaha, NE) and she seems to be to busy to return my emails. I am looking for any advice that some of you more expierenced players might have. Thanks

As a general rule, the higher skilled players tend to lean toward the BCA, APA is geared toward low to intermediate level players. I would consider playing a couple nights a week, one in each league and see which you like better. There are some rule differences, so you gotta remember which league you are playing in on a given night.

Hey Jason,

Got to ditto the above, it all depends on your skill qualifiactions. APA is all about skill level where some of the best players in the country vie in the BCA leagues, Either way, both are excellent leagues and a lot of fun to participate in. I, personally would start out with players you know and are comfortable playing with. Then move if you like from there.
Either way, have a good time and enjoy the sport.

PS, good to have you home!

Yeah I'd say try em both. I am in APA right now and am about to join a 3 man BCA 9ball league. You may learn more by playing in BCA since there are more skilled players per capita than APA. Can stack teams instead of only being able to have a few good players and a few weak ones like APA. But maybe APA is the place to start.

I agree to play in both but I do wonder what are the top guys people
mention that play regularly in a BCA weekly league. I only know of one or
two that actually play regularly. Just curious as I know a bunch of top guys
that "get in" the vegas stuff but never or rarely play weekly league. If I
were a middle ground or lower level player I would find a APA league and
try to find a team or area with a top player or two to learn while being competitive. Each league has its ups and downs. I like both myself but
only play regularly in the APA. Its more accessable to me now.

As for the Omaha BCA-- Have the individual league operators made their mind
up which league to go with or do they have to go with what their state
rep wants them to do. I really didnt understand the jumping ship and forming
a new league so quickly. I would have had to give Mark and the new BCA
league a chance. It could not be any worse and if no improvements then I
would have maybe started something else. To me this will cause a harsh
division between the two.
