Attendance down at small local tournaments!

I have been going to several small local 8-ball bar tournaments for several years. This winter the attendance at several of these tournaments is 1/2 the people from last year.

These are held in various small towns in a rural area. So many people who play in these have to travel 20 miles plus to attend.

Many people in my area have pick-up trucks which get poor gas mileage. Also around here home heating costs have gone up as well as other cost of living increases.

So I think people have less "spending money" and that might be why they are staying home?

Anyone else having fewer players showing up to small local tournaments?

Well your other thread on the same players always winning might have something to do with it. I found the same thing was happening here(dwindling numbers) so I made a point of bringing someone with me to the tournaments instead of going by myself like I used to do. This year I've been able to "drag" 1 or more of my teammates to these tournaments on a regular basis.
