Bad Losers

Whether I win or lose I show the same demeanor but some people just can't let it go. 3 weeks ago I won the annual tournament at the local hangout, I just moved to this area and I ruffled some of the local feathers by winning that tourney. Last night the guy I took down twice to win the tourney a few weeks ago did something completely driven by ego, we were playing partners and they were down to the 8-ball which was hanging in the corner pocket, we had one ball left on the table, instead of just shooting the gimme shot he sent the cue ball 3 rails to tap the 8-ball in. I don't know what the point of a shot like that is? This guy and I are about even in our skills at pool but man you got to call an A-Hole a A-hole when they do that kind of stuff. I went over and shook his hand and said "Now that's really rubbing it in", he left shortly after that and we all went back to enjoying ourselves. Gotta love him though, that's mixed up.

Any other sore-loser stories out there? Are you one?

I have always felt that people who do crazy things like that are actually doing me a favor.

If the 8 is hanging I have pretty much resigned myself to losing, and then I get a reprieve when some moron runs the cue ball around 3 rails to show off.

If he makes it, so what? If he misses it or gives me ball in hand then I have to think he is the one feeling like an idiot.

For the mostpart I don't care how they make them or how they miss them. In the end its all the same.

Ok, if that is bad...how would you call a person that, no matter the result, always calls opponents good shots (meaning good pots ar safetys) coming out of luck? Unfortunately there is one of those in my list of people to know..and yes, of course, end up playing against him during one small tournament. I lost that game, but still..made some good safetys and all those, his words, were lucky shots or pure luck.

What i mean..don't get confused about bad losers and stupid persons..there is a difference.

I wasn't there to actually gather in the vibes that you were feeling, however,I see nothing wrong with having some fun and going three rails to knock in a hanger. If the guy loses, calls you lucky, calls you names, slams his cue, won't shake hands, won't pay up etc etc, to me that's a bad loser.Having some fun occasionally is OK.

As far as locals getting their feathers ruffled by a new guy winning, that's nothing new. Some of the ruffled feathers you were feeling could be for real and others just(assumptions) in your head. When you are new,it takes time to get comfortable in a pool hall. After you get more familiarized with your new surroundings, you will find out who the good people are and who the jerks are.Chances are there's only a few jerks as that's usually the case.

I completely agree.

I am notorious for goofing off when there isn't money involved in the match. Some people think it is me showing off, which is fine because it is all in their head. In actuality I am just enjoying a game of pool, which I think is what the dude in the story was doing.
