Balance and Equilibrium

Is it possible that some days your natural balance is just off? I've been using the same stance for years, and some days I feel myself rocking a little bit during my practice strokes. On most days I am solid and comfortable in my stance, but on my bad days it's usually because I just can't get balanced. I remember hearing about something in your ears that has to do with how your body keeps its balance. Do you think this could have an effect?

Clean your ears and let us know.

Just kidding. Some days everything is off which would include your balance. I think there are probably thousands of factors that effect your game at different points in time. Those occasional days when everything is in alignment and you hit dead stroke leave you wondering just how good you could be if you could maintain this state and improve upon it. However, reality always sets in and then you are left wondering where your game went to and how could you be this terrible. It seems like nothing ever stays the same, it gets better or it gets worse, and I think you could toss balance into this equation. Some days it is perfect, some days it is pretty good and somedays you're rocking.

Hey...and just wait until you get to be geezer age like Wayne...LOL. A lot more besides balance goes haywire. Seriously, sometimes it seems like it takes a while for your eyes to focus properly during a session, if at all. Aches and pains might set in that force you to stand a little differently to counteract the pain, but at the same time throw your stroke or timing off.
On the PGA Tour over the last couple of years, a few golfers had a bad problem with balance due to vertigo. How much fun could that be with the feeling that you were drunk! Shit happens...and it can happen almost every day. Wait until you reach the age when you have to run full speed into the nearest wall next to your bed every morning just to jump start your heart. Boy, do I hate it when the SOB stalls out like a flooded '49 Ford and you have to keep doing it over and over.....

YOU have a heart?

As for the balance thingy...do you wear your trousers to the right or left? I ask, because if I do it wrong the extra weight throws off my stance. ;)

Colds will mess up my game, and I blame it on diminished balance. A cold can affect your balance by messing with your inner ear a bit. I get a bit wobbly around the table (here is where Purdy jumps in to suggest I roll smaller ones ;) , but that's not the problem ) and miss a fair bit more than normal.
