Get the book "banking With The Beard. It's an amazing book!

I will dido this thousand times over. That is one of the greatest resorces you can get.

But a couple others I have and one that I know a good banker uses. Byrne's video I and II, Kid Delisious as well are very helpful. My friend used the Doc Cue tapes.

Do you use the diamonds to help estimate the angles? It's very simple; you don't need to buy any books to learn this most basic "system".

The basic principle of banking or kicking is "angle in = angle out". Like light hitting a mirror, a ball rebounds from a rail at the same angle from which it approached the rail. Another way to say this is "distance in = distance out", meaning the ball travels the same distance down the table after rebounding as it did before rebounding, like this:

CueTable Help

In other words, the ball travels half the total distance downtable before it hits the rail and half the total distance after it rebounds. So all you have to do to find the rail contact point is divide the total downtable distance in half, like this:

CueTable Help

The "downtable" distance is measured along the rails so you can use the diamonds, but the ball usually isn't located on the rail, so you have to extend the shot line back to the near rail, like this:

CueTable Help

There's more to it than this - most importantly, balls don't usually follow the exact "equal angle" path after hitting the rail - but it's a good first estimate anyway from which you can adjust based on experience from practicing.
