Barbox last pocket 8

Just out of curiosity how many of my fellow AZ'rs enjoy playing barbox "last pocket 8 ball" on a fairly regular basis?

I'm sure there are some regional house rules variations (as is the case with "regular" 8 ball). For instance, the last pocket bar rules at the local pub state that, if your opponent scratches and your object ball is the kitchen you cannot spot it, but must shoot out of, and then back into the kitchen, (with ball in hand behind the line), in order to contact the o.b.. I was wondering what differences exist in different areas.

BTW- does anyone have a file with (PM me if you'd like), or could they post the last known BCA rules for last pocket 8? Thanks in advance.

Oh, and on an altogether unrelated note; I'm happy to report that due to my efforts, the local pub has adopted the slightly modified (for coin-op) BCA 8 ball rules I'd posted about in an earlier thread. It is now, to my knowledge the only bar in all of North Jersey to use BCA rules as the house rules! :)

I was waiting to play a match and someone asked me to play him. He wanted to play "Last pocket bank the 8"!

So I was game. I won by holding out until I could make my last ball into a corner pocket. Then I had an easy bank. (He kept leaving me so I had an easy shot for my last ball into the side, but I refused to do that.) I mostly play BCA rules these days, but that was fun for a change.

So far as your BCA rules, good work!

Another Kool game

What about 1/15 last pocket eight?? Anybody play that??

In Puerto Rico, they play 9-ball on the big tables and last pocket 8-ball on the small tables.

For me, it is torture because I love playing 8-ball, but ablsolutely hate last pocket bar rules.

It has made the players here quite defensive in their thinking and they play some good safeties (most not legal under BCA rules).

I rarely play 8-ball now, but am doing better with last pocket. I am learning how to be patient and wait for the perfect shot on my last object ball.

Most of the time, for the bangers here, the game degenerates into a bank the 8 frenzy with both players trying to make miracle banks into their pocket. That drives me nuts!

I've played that a few times. As I recall, you need to make the 1 or 15 (depending on which group you are) into a certain side pocket.

I think the way I played was to work on getting my 1 (if I was solids) into my side pocket right from the get go. And I think some players would leave their 1 or 15 until last, and then have a difficult time making their ball - would wind up batting their ball around the table.

So I think the idea was to get say the 1 ball near your side pocket - THEN start shooting in you balls and leave yourself position to shoot the 1 into your side pocket.

When I first played this, I thought it would be quite difficult or impossible. But if you play your cards right and do a little planning in advance, it can be easier than it would seem.

Also if your opponent positions his ball near his side pocket, you can knock it away (using one of your balls of course). Or you can always leave the cue ball to where making his ball into the side is almost impossible.
