Barnhart shafts, kielwood vs maple

I'm looking for some input from guys who play or have played with different Barnhart shafts.

Do you find much of a difference between the kielwood and standard maple in terms of hit/feel and deflection?

I know there will always be a bit of a weight difference between the 2, looking more into the playing characteristics of the 2 types of shafts as I'm looking for my first Barnhart cue to purchase.

Thank you!

I ordered the standard shaft from Superior cues about a month ago and I really like it, but I've been playing with Kielwood on another cue so I decided to pick up the roasted maple shaft also.

The fit, finish, taper and feel on both are amazing, you can't go wrong with either. Both of mine are at 3.8oz and I've installed the How Medium tip on both.

The standard shaft does have a bit more deflection to it but it is easy to get used to.

The roasted maple has a firmer hit, which I prefer and less deflection. I'm using this one primarily now and it's paired with a Diveney butterfly sneaky. The joint matched up perfectly with it as well.

Hope this helps and good luck with the purchase. I'll be considering a Barnhart down the road for my next purchase for sure.

I jumped on getting one of the Barnhart roasted maple shafts last Fall. Best thing I’ve done in a longtime.

If you do a search, you see my endorsement and comments about this shaft’s superiority. It only comes
in a radial thread so the weight of the shaft is mainly wood versus piloted Kielwood shafts. However, I did
decide to change the tip from Cory’s choice and I found my cue shaft played better when it was the same
as my other cues’ shafts. He is not able to refer to his shafts as Kielwood but roasted maple is the very same.
