I am shopping and learning more about cues...can someone explain all the random descriptions that come with a cue for sale. I am clueless but would love to know what everything means ie take this one that was posted below:

All white is ivory
abalone inlays
Elephant ear wrap

Forearm:
6 Ivory points with abalone inlays
Solid Ivory Joint

Butt:
6 Ivory windows with 3 abalone diamond inlays in each one of them
Ivory Hope ring

Fancy Rings on all positions

ill let the pictures do the talk...
Cue was just Refinished by Paul Drexler

3x8/10 pin

I know this is a dumb question but I am pretty dumb about cues.

Thanks,
Jummy

Descriptions are not random btw. There are names for different parts of cues (shaft, ferrule, joint, etc...) here is a link that may help, along with some notes i've posted above.

simply scrolling through the wanted /fs section will teach you most of these components.

Google is a mans best friend.

Edit: also searching the ask the cuemaker forum is a great resource. It's cool to look at builder's progress pics and see how a cue comes together.
