Why doesn't this channel carry snooker events from England? I would think there might be some interest to carry some of the three tournaments the homeland channel carries over here on BBC America.

BBC Canada doesn't have sports in its mandate.
BBC America apparently doesn't either.

What is BBC AMERICA?
BBC AMERICA offers the best in British entertainment to U.S. audiences, with a robust lineup of sci-fi, comedy, reality, drama, documentary, and movies, all delivered in our uniquely British voice.

Probably specified in the murky world of government licensing of TV and the reason why you don't find soap operas on CNN or ESPN.

BBC does not broadcast the majority of snooker tournaments these days.
It is done by Eurosport, with a few by Skysports. For example:

Fortunately, with the world wide web, you can watch most events live.
Picture quality and reliability is far better than a few years ago.

And if you miss something, entire matches are showing up on youtube.

Hook up your computer to a Hi Def TV and you will be happy. :D

In the past BBC has shown up on some of these sites, in the early rounds (UK, World, Masters), only to disappear in the latter stages.
BBC is highly protective of its property.
Used to be able to get BBC using proxy servers, but haven't been able to do that for several years, and no longer much needed.

Enjoy
