I ordered the other one (without the ivory joint). Should have it late Jan.

I will be looking forward to seeing both posted when they become available. They should be incredible - afterall it is a Bender Cue!
I will post pics as soon as I get each one. Great playing cues. :)

I think Roy is doing pretty well considering what happened to him. I was at his shop last sunday and my friend bought a pretty sweet new Klein cue. Roy said he was attacked in the stairwell of his shop. He buzzed someone whom he thought was a customer or fedex guy he was waiting for. Roy met the guy at the stairwell, and the guy asked him for a job and Roy said he was not hiring, and the guy would not leave and became mouthy and confrontational, and then beat the living hell out of him, and dragged him upstairs and tossed him around some more. then left and said hello to the fedex man on his way out. Roy showed us some pictures, and he is very lucky he was not beaten to death. He seems to be a lot better now, even just a month after this happened. I guess the guy only grabbed one stick, and he dropped in a container on his way out the door becuase he saw the fedex man. Roy was in good spirits and hooked us up with an awesome deal.

I spoke with Roy about 2 hours before this happened, the next day I got an e-mail from him telling me what happened. I speak with Roy at least twice a week, he is a great guy, I like him alot. I only do my buying from him. He knows a lot about cues. So far I have gotten 4 cues from him in the last 4 months, 1 Cognoscenti, 1 Capone and 2 Bender. I'm new to cue collecting, and he guides me in the right direction. I know he did you guys right, enjoy what ya got. Great guy that Roy. I'll meet him one day and I'm looking foward to it. :)

Roy has helped me as well. I have 3 cues from him - Coker, Bender, Schick and they were all great finds.

As soon as I heard what happened, I managed to get a phone number to his hospital room. I too stayed in touch with him then on a daily basis while he was waiting for surgery and later to be released.

Roy is doing well and he enjoys the encouragement that people like us give him and the support he feels he gets with the phone calls we make to him.

Being that this thread is more about Bender, one thing most people may not be aware of is that Mike Bender came to visit Roy after he was released from the hospital. He was in the area prior to the collectors show in Florida. They go back a few years and have a great relationship.

I too hope to meet Roy and have dinner with him one day to hear the stories first hand. He has shared stories with me about going to Japan and staying with Lucky for a few days. In return, when Lucky visited the USA, Roy obtained 3 basketball tickets to take Lucky to a game (something Lucky wanted to do).

My collection too is small and I would like it to grow with custom models built to my inputs but to allow some flexibility to either Bill Schick or Mike Bender to work their magic. I understand that is one thing they really enjoy by mixing up your dream with a passion for something they want to do.

Thanks for sharing and I would really love to see the new Bender pictures when you can post them. They sound like some dreams come true.

Did Roy tell ya about Lucky's collection in the apartment? WOW! I can't wait to get my 2 Bender's, the 20+20 on Feb 17th. My special one will take a little more time, like Aug. or Sept. Mike and his wife are designing the Dia. & Emerald cue now, I have not seen the first draft yet, maybe next week he will have something drawn up by then. I left it all up to them, I'm just giving them the stones, thats it. I'm in the Gemstone trade, Roy knows this, so he must have been talking to Mike one day about me and stones, and Mike said to Roy that he would like to have a chance to design a cue for me using Gemstones and of course I said YES with a big smile. With a certificate saying what went into the cue, with my name and date of completion. This will be a very special cue for me and I will never sell it (everybody has got thier price though) LOL. Will post pics when I get them Both. I can't wait!!!

P.S. Dreams DO come true. :)
