Best Gold Crown to buy

I have a GC4 and would not trade it. However would it be fair to say any GC in excellent condition is a good choice? Do you have a first class mechanic to set it up and refurb if need be?
Looking for a mechanic for delivery and setup.

Start out with what area are you in. Some mechanics have tables for sale. Regardless be patient and find the right person to set up or you’ll hate and pay again to re-level /cloth. I did.

Still looking. Saw one in Nola a few years back -- pool hall model with bad rails.

Everytime I start considering a Diamond, I hear all of the tales of 2K GCs in perfect shape.

One day.

you will always regret buying one that isnt in the best condition. pay more and get more.

hope for one that didnt come out of a pool room.

I’m envious of you guys that play on GC.

That’s where it all started for me. I believe my university had the early version of them.

Last time I went back there I had to stop and play for a bit. They play so much faster than a Diamond.

Also, Diamond table height are higher than GC.

Granted university Rex room tables are more abused but pocketing balls on a GC is a joy.

Just about any table can be restored.

My gawd that is a beauty.

Anyone want to still challenge me and say Diamond tables are nicer?
I prefer the Diamond rails as I don't care for metal pocket castings and nose trim that would be my main complaintabout GC's. The GC's are nice tables but I believe the quality of fit and finish has gone down over the years. Interested in seeing the GC7 when it comes out

I would love to find a nice GC to restore and have the subrails modified.

Have a GC V tournament that was barely used… set up by an awesome mechanic… and while I play on diamonds regularly… I wouldn’t trade my GC.

4.5” pockets for me, and visitors is perfect.

I’ll throw my hat in the ring here with a vote for the GCI. I’ll qualify that by saying that I’m partial to the colors that were offered, and also the fact that I’m not a player who’s trying to compete in anything serious. There are so many shots I get away with on this table that don’t even have a prayer on the Diamond tables at my local pool hall. But I mostly shoot straight pool with a couple guys here locally, and this table is perfect for that.

I once had a nice black GC4 - it played great/ pockets came at about 4 7/8 corners - One could change that of course. I left it for free when I sold my Ct home 8 years ago - it had only been in my home for about 4 years - was like new - but I did want to bother selling it so I just left it for the new owner with his permission. Table was terrific - I prefer them 100% over a Diamond or Olhausen.
