Not the most original thread maybe, but I wanted to know who you guys thought was the best players ever in their game (straight, 9-ball, banks whatever) and who you guys thought was the best person ever to pick up a cue period.
Here's my take
Straight pool--Mosconi
3-cushion--Ceulemans
Snooker-- Hendry (easy one)
Banks--Don't know--Jay who is it?
9-Ball--Don't know--Sigel, Earl?
8-ball--Efren
1 pocket--Efren
English Billiards-- Walter Lindrum
Overall-- I think Walter Lindrum because I can't think of anybody else who was so dominant in their sport they pretty much killed it off. I could be way off in the pool disciplines.
Best to watch--Semih

9-ball for me has to be earl, buddy hall, or sigel. i can't really decide.

straight pool - sigel is the best i've seen.

snooker has to be hendry. nobody has ever had such an attacking game as him.

one pocket the general consensus seems to be efren, although i can't say it because i have hardly seen the game played at all and don't knwo how to play it fully. :)

and best to pick up a cue period?

The Pearl. Nobody has ever wielded a cue with that much flair, style, and oomph.

EDIT: oomph, i like that. what a word
