Best NJ pool rooms...

I'm looking for the best NJ pools rooms for a possible story on the NJ billiard scene. As an aside I'm going to try and find the best young player in the state.

I know about Comet Billiards in Parsippany... nice place, good tables! Where else should I look?

I think you already found the nicest one but you got

Castle in Rutherford

Clifton Billiards

Herbert's in Seacaucus

B L in Edison is still going i guess

Crown in Pompton Lakes

Some of these are not much to look at but you might find some good young players.

BL is no longer BL. It is now Elite Billiards. It is the sister room to Elite in East Brunswick. The owner of the old BL opened up Sharky B's right down the road. I hear that there's some good action there.

Don't forget Willow Billiards in Hoboken--not fancy but some good players and discrete action.

Also there's a whole lot of bar table last pocket eight ball action in Hudson County. I know a few guys that's all they do. Union City is the epicenter for it. It ain't for the timid.

Legends Bar on RT5 in Bergen County is often a good place for some bar box action as long as you don't scare the fish money-wise.

If you're not looking for action, but do want a good game a few drinks and a good time, the Wild Rover on 71st and Park in Guttenberg can accomodate you with an immaculately maintained 7 ft bar box, and good players. House rules are basically TAP rules except ball in hand behind the line.

BTW--does anyone know if Star Billiards on 46 is still open? Used to be some good action there if you could deal with all the punks. And while I'm at it did Rockaway Billiards close?

How about a poolroom in Vineland, N.J., called Q-Ball Billiards, owned by Pro Player Jose Garcia.

Two more.

1. Gotham Billiards in North Bergen, more Latin nightclub than pool hall. Huge place, lots of tables.
2. Family Billiards in Bergenfield. Joe Kong plays there a lot and is VERY good. Finished in top twenty World Summit of Pool the year it was in Grand Central Station.

PM me regarding a good young player (college age).

Star and Rockaway Billiards

Yes, both places are still open. I was in Rockaway a few months ago and Star two weeks ago. Plus, how about Alan Hopkins place on Route 10? I remember seeing he had some action in another thread but not in his room.
