I notice on the EPBF calendar that several events are listed under the "Best of the East" title.

http://www.epbf.com/sportsite/Sportcalendar.htm

WOuldnt mind playing in some of these locations like, Hungary or even the Ukraine! Does anyone know anything about these events, are they open, do I have to submit a pool CV or apply online?

Just remembered this, is this a first, is there nobody on AZ that can answer this question?

Best of east are basically open tournaments played in eastern part of Europe (hence the name), they don't count for EuroTour ranking AFAIK. It is best to contact players from the country in which tournament is to be played if no contacts are listed. But dates can shift, nothing is 100% certain.

For example last year in October we had such an event here in Zagreb, Croatia. It was won by Vilmos Foldes. Everything was organized on a very short notice. Entry fee was 70 euros IIRC.

I hope we'll have something like that again this year. If we do, I'll let you know TheOne! :) We certainly have suitable conditions, i.e. a rather nice poolhall with 14 tables.

Wow knew somebody would know, I headr there was a croatian open in Zagreb in August, maybe this is a Best of the East event?

I really fancy going to Zagreb especially since I got 100 quids worth of Croatian currency as I was going to visit Pula a couple of weeks ago when in Italy, sadly never made it due to Election transport problems Grrr

Yes, it was listed as such. There was one in Split (Adriatic coast) a year before. Those events are not quite as strong as real EuroTour events, but at least 10 full time pros show up. 3 years ago we had a similar event, and even Ralf Souquet showed up (won of course). Sandor Tot always appears at our open events (he even speaks the language). I hope we'll have one this year. It may depend whether Ivica Putnik (our top player) has time. He's in the IPT as well. The way I see it, those kind of tournaments are organized partly by players themselves. Nice for someone who wants to have a go against the pros...
