Turn the lights down and add some smoke and for whatever reason.....this picture reminds me of the room from the COM that Vince hung out in.....

My poolroom in Melbourne was probably fashioned after Bakers, we have similar dark paneling, I imagine the origninal owners were copying bakers.
We might be the second oldest poolroom in Florida, I'm told it opened at it's present location in 1958. Though my husband has owned it since 1974.
At any rate I'm used to old run down smokey poolrooms, tho I could do without the smoke. It's where I learned to play in 1977. Funny thing I lived in Tampa in 75 and 76, but had not discovered the joy of pool yet. Too bad, I could have started learning at Bakers!

Heated pool tables? maybe i missed something. they make heated pool tables?
 
For the people here who dont know of the Flamingo, its a small bar in St Pete where the owner (Dale) has one gold crown up front and 3 bar tables in the back. Mostly a drinking bar, but it also has been a spot where roadies can get played sometimes. Its about as far away from the description of Drexeline as one can imagine. Its the kind of bar that at first look you would be surprised to learn that there may be a Great White lurking on a bar stool.

Yes, I have heard of this also. It is to take the Humidity out of the Table, so in the 3-Cushion tournament, every player has the same table conditions. I think it started in Japan or China.

Just 2 bar boxes in the back, but they are still only 50 cents.:D The walls are full of autographed pictures of all the greats that have played at the Flamingo over the years, Sigel, Hall, Efren, Kennedy, David Howard etc etc the list goes on. The shelfs are stuffed with Trophies from all the city championships, APA..etc etc.

We have a huge party on Thanksgiving every year.

Let's see...around 89 a Skinny kid..... Did he have a 9 Ball Keychain hanging out of his back pocket? Played with McDermott in a grey tube case. Could have been JB.

Did he have Black curly hair and a mustache? could have been Mike Boston. Played with a Sneaky pete, no case.

Or was he small framed, very short Blonde hair, could have been Little Donny. Played with a Meucci in a black tube case.

Drexeline is located right outside of Philly ,Pa. About 20 minutes from Allen Hopkins Valley Forge Expo. Ph#610-259-9144 hours 7am to 2am +. Drexeline is host to Joss, Blaze and world straight pool qualifier, (florida Bob) Maidhof 's game of choice. A large number of the world's best, have played here over the years.
There is also a great smoke abatement system. The HVAC system works well and is used to maintain our comfort. The place is a clean, safe, friendly place, with the best, well maintained equiptment. We are lucky to have a owner like Bob, and should support his dream. He got to where he is by the road , with high action times. FYI.:cool:

Rates are $5.95 5pm to close, Day rate 7am till 5pm is $3.85. He charges seniors 60 and over $3.00 all the time.
