I am not too sure these days after being away from the UK for a few years. I always thought JP made good cues but from what I have heard he no longer makes them himself as he used to when I had one from him.

Spoke to a good friend of mine and he has just bought himself a cue from Craftsman Cues (I had one a long time ago) and he says it's great and about 1/2 the price or less of a equivalent Parris. He bought an Elite from them and with the small extension it came to around 200 I think he said. He also looked into having some new shaft that they now have but it was an extra 60-80 and they told him 8-10 weeks extra so he stuck with the basic. I think everyone should go try out various cues and see which they think feels right to them and it doesn't matter if it's 50 or 500 if it feels right.

March 18 -23England Home from Paris on the 29th2010

I stopped in at Riley's (Hastings, England) Bought a Riley that ( Does share the same Ebonee front - exactly .that Parris does. Alley had just been in couple days before/ So then the difference is the Handle(and extensions) - pounds. I live in the USA and we here have 300 times the choices in cues. thanks for any comments in advance mark

Hollywood try recording yourself rapping with two snooker balls in your mouth then play it back at 20 times the normal speed.

It'll give you an idea then of how understandable you last post was.

Riley last made a cue about 50 years ago since then they have merely added their name to the crappiest cheapest cues china can make. They have two maybe three cues in their range that use real ebony the dearest one has a pearlised splice, in other words plastic. None look anything like a Paris cue.

Hollywood, what were you thinking man buying a Riley? That's like going out here and getting a Cuetec, Rage or Players for about $30. Wity is right they haven't made cues themselves for years, I remember them being crap when I was in the UK and looking for a cue 20 years ago. If you pay your carftsman sh*t you're going to get a Turd!

But more power to you, if it feels good in your hands and plays ok I guess you got a bargain as I can't imagine you paid anything more than $50.

Dunno if they still do but not long ago Rileys were offering a free cue with every membership(£7). As it's compulsory you be a member to play there maybe thats the cue he bought?

I play regulary with a kid who has one, right pile of crap it is only machine spliced cue i've ever seen where the splices are uneven, and wow are they uneven, as much as an inch at the top and 3" at the bottom.
Some six weeks ago he asked me to retip it for him. I took it home sanded off all the varnish, oiled it and put on a new tip.

Aint beet the bugger since !

Wow........7GBP for membership and a cue, man that would make the cue about 20p:) That means if he spent 50GBP on it he'd have been better off buying a membership for everyone in his family including the dog and selling the other cues at a Car Boot!

lol, just done exactly the same for a friend and his 'Pot Black' cue. there was a nice cue under all that cheap varnish but wow, those machined splices were miles out. Whoever or whatever turned that square to round must have had a running start with one eye closed to be that far off centre :grin-square:
