Some have different views. I personally like it when locals bet against me or want to gamble. I think in a lot of instances, locals simply refuse to gamble with one another due to pride. They do not want to have to see the guy everyday that beats them. It really hurts local action, which has an effect on the level of play. I know where I live, most will not even play for more than 10 dollars with one another, but then get up and blow uncharacteristic amounts of money to road players with no shot of ever gettting the money back. I say keep the money in your poolroom, pass it out like halloween candy if you want. It is good for the room, the players, and you can match up on a nightly basis and in return be a better player. I gamble with friends and I have flat out told them, when we are gambling, I'm going to try my hardest to bust you, and when we are done if they need the money back, it is all theirs and they can pay me when they want or stiff me. I have no problem beating some of my pool friends out of 200 and then handing it back to them if they really need it. But we all know most have too much pride to ask for it, so it just stays in action and we trade it throughout the year in gambling sessions.
