BIH after the first break shot?

When playing the ghost in other games like 8, 9, and 10 ball most players will use BIH after the break. Why not use BIH after the first break shot in 14.1?

I have been playing a lot of 14.1 for the past few months. I've found the hardest part for me is the first shot after the break ball. Usually I have to come with a great shot to continue the run. If I don't karom of the stack and scratch, I will go either get hooked on the foot rail or roll all the way to the head rail.

CueTable Help

I think top spin is sending the CB into the same pocket as the break ball. Any advise as to how to get the CB in the the center of the table from this break shot?

Good question.

The best answer that I can tell you is that you need to practice your straight pool as if you are playing a match. By leaving that cue ball where it is after a break shot is like a match situation. If you do not have a good shot, practice your safes (they are as much as part of the game as offense). After your safety re-rack, if you do not have a shot. If you do have a shot, then you know you played a poor one and take the shot from there. Practice your whole game.
I hope this info. helps.
