Billiards/Snooker Best Places To Play Or Watch Events in England

Does anyone know anything about the billiards scene in England. We are planning a 3 week plus trip and am hoping to find some good Pool Halls/Pubs and even places to watch some good events. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Seems the bigger events were in Ireland in 2006. Pot Black was in September, but nothing posted for summer of 2007
