I need a new book and was thinking about a pool book. Down to two: Hustler Days and Playing off the rail. Any opinions on these two?

I've recently read each one for the first time, and they're both very good.

Playing off the Rail is more of a story (a true one of course); Hustler Days is more of a biography.

I recommend getting both.

I read them both and you would enjoy either of them. I particularly enjoyed Playing Off the Rail as I knew all the people he talked about when playing in Seattle. Check the used book stores, I am always finding copies of the book at a reduced price when looking around

I read "Playing off the Rail" a few years ago and loved it. I haven't read "Hustler Days" yet but want to. I'm glad to hear other people liked it, though, because this just enforces my intention to get it.

I just ordered both of them from Amazon.com. I had planned on ordering just Hustler Days, but having Free shipping if I had a purchase over 25.00 was inticing, so I ordered the other one. Total order $27 and change. Glad to know that I got too good books, just cant wait to get them.
