I have a 90s era McDermott cue with an extension that I leave on full time - and I really like it that way except when I shoot the CB close to the rail and I use an open bridge. I have removed the weight bolt and the overall weight is pretty close to what the cue used to be with the weight bolt in but no extension. However when I shoot the CB close to the rail with an open bridge the tip is a little light on the bridge and I sometimes miscue.

So far I've had the best luck when I remember to move my back hand a little closer to the butt.

Any ideas for improving on this or maybe making a further modification to move the balance closer to the tip?

A center cue extension may work better for you.

It works.
