Bought new H series McDermott, don't like the G-Core shaft, looking for input on i2 vs i3 replacement

The title says it all. I am considering replacing my G-Core shaft on my new McD "H" cue with either the Intimidator i-2 or i-3 shafts.

Has anyone had any relevant experience regarding selecting one vs the other? They are the same price.

Thanks
Tom

I own a Defy and hate the finish. Your word "sticky" is right on. The other problem is the bright shiny finish makes it hard to see the tip of the shaft in a dark pool room with the factory black navigator tip. I changed my tip to a Kamui White which did help deal with that somewhat. I like my Revo and Meucci Carbon Pro much better.

I'll sell the Defy as soon as I find the right other shaft for my McDermott butt.

I'm trying to keep the brands together and not put a Predator or Meucci shaft on the McDermott butt. Just seems wrong to me somehow.

I had an i2, briefly. I found it to be slightly more lively than a 314, which has always felt pretty dead to me. The i2 had about the same deflection as 314 (I guess). Nothing wrong with the i2 otherwise, just wasn't for me.

To be honest i like McD's standard solid-maple shaft better than any of the hi-tech models.

I put Defy in my lathe and worked on it a bit. I swapped out the tip again to a Kamui Clear Black Super Soft and polished the crap out of the shaft. Things are better now.

I also sent out my G-Core for a complete re-taper to the Meucci taper and a Kamui Clear Black as well. I also had the diameter reduced from 13.08 to 12.5. We'll see how it comes back. My lathe skills are not yet developed enough to do the taper myself...

There is a new model of the Defy that will be out, I played for a bit with a guy sponsored by them and he had one. A lot better finish on it. Still not my cup of tea. I don't really like any of the McDermott shafts aside from their standard maple ones. Their LD shafts are a bit dead feeling and not very LD, I would say they are in the middle of the pack for LD.

I had the I2 for about a year or so , although its a fairly stiff hitter , for the the 330 tag, there are much better options out there with lower deflection. If you didnt like the G-core you likely wont like the i2 either , as they play virtually the same with the exception that the i2 is more stiff. Its still pretty deflective like the gcore.
