Great idea! I love seeing this kind of thing for kids.

Please share more information as to where you are located, and tell us about the program. A link to a donation page and a timeline of how long your drive will last would be useful as well. You will get at least one post on here criticizing you for asking for money, but if you show passion and legitimacy, you will likely gain support.

Good point gali! That info is available at the link provided, but we'll list it here as well:

Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County needs new pool tables!
For: Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County - Bakersfield
Bakersfield, CA
Organizer: Melissa Herndon
87 days left in fund

On December 11, 2015, a handful of players from the Mezz West State Tour visited with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County. Our purpose was to teach the kids the fundamentals of pool and share our passion for the sport. We wanted to ignite a spark of interest, and maybe even start to inspire a younger generation to love the game the way we do.

The event was a success, filled with fun and laughter and bright kids eager to learn. These kids were filled with potential and excited to start playing more pool. We even gave them some new cues to practice with, courtesy of West State Billiards Supply.

Unfortunately, the Club's tables are in dire need of repair or replacement. They have 4 tables, but 2 are in such bad shape that they aren't even playable...so they have caution tape around them. Rails and pockets are missing/broken. A third table is still being used, but pockets are missing...so the kids put buckets on the floor under the pockets so that the balls have something to catch them.

99% of my pool playing friends are used to playing on well-maintained equipment. We take the good conditions for granted...so much so that we even sometimes complain when cloth gets to be 4-5 months old! The kids of the Boys & Girls Clubs deserve better than tables that are literally falling apart.

We would like to raise at least $1000 to try and find 4 used barbox tables in good condition to replace the tables that the Club currently has. We are guessing that we will need to spend $200-$250 per table...and any additional money raised will be used to help cover costs of moving and set-up. If we exceed our goal, we will also be able to buy more cues and balls for the kids.

Please consider a donation of any amount to help us help the wonderful kids of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County.

Thank you,

Melissa Herndon, Beau Runningen, Ra Hanna, Barbara Lee, Steve Mansfield, James Harris, Chris Santana, Justin Marks, Reid Fleming
