Brass 3/8 x 10 joint pin - Plain dress rings Black Brown??

someone came forward to help me finish a cue blank.
spoke with him on the telephone for 20 min (he was real happy about that)
the joint pin was decided 3/8ths x 10 thread steel, i didn't think to ask if i could get 3/8 x 10 brass?
and what are the colors for plain solid color dress rings, Brown, Black, anything else?

The answers to your questions are Yes, and Yes.
3/8-10 brass pins are readily available, durable, and attractive. Brass is a little heavier than steel so it can have an effect on the balance point of your cue.
Rings can be cut from pretty much any material, so they can come in pretty much any color. They can also be cut from the wood your cue is being made from, which is often/usually more attractive than the solid color fiber rings - depends on the design. Custom made rings take a lot of time and work, so they will be more expensive.

Not to be a smart azz, but why don't you call him back and ask him these same questions? If 20 minutes of discussion seems to stretch his patience, then maybe you should reconsider who the builder will be. I try to spend as much time as needed to get as much info from the customer as possible, as it's their money and their cue. Surprisingly, most customers get boggled when asked questions concerning all the little details, and just say..."surprise me" or "I trust your judgment" just so they can avoid making a decision about stuff they didn't know needed to be decided..

Therein lies the key as to why there are so many disappointments in the 'custom-cue' business.
The client doesn't actually know what they want.
The 'surprise me' or "I trust your judgement" usually results in "I didn't tell you to do that".
Next thing you know you're the topic of the latest 'bash a CM' thread. No, thank you.

no matter, i've gathered enough information to place my order.
and quite honestly, there's only so many times you want to stop a lathe, that's why i asked here in the forums.
