Brazil Rules And Other Games

It seems to be a very truncated version of Volunteer Snooker, where colours can be potted out of sequence as penalty balls, otherwise much the same as snooker. It's rules were still being printed in the 1980's era WB&SCC (then governing body) rule book along with snooker and (English) billiards.

The rules given on the page provided by Scaramouche are close but not quite right.
Here is a summary of differences with standard snooker:
- the table is smaller (1.42 m x 2.84 m)
- there is only one red
- all fouls cost 7
- normally, you play the ball "on" in sequence. However, after potting the ball "on" (even a colour), you can always pot a colour which is respotted.
- Before you play the ball "on" you may play a penalty ball that costs you 7 if not potted. It is respotted if potted.

It is actually this penalty ball that makes the game agressive since it is used to try to set up a better shot on the ball "on". As a result, a good player can clear the table. Safeties are a lot harder to achieve since you have to hide from *all* balls. The only real good safety is to lodge the ball "on" against the rail. Then you may give away a penalty ball to your opponent but he/she will probably not go further.

Very agressive game and tons of fun!
By the way, this is *the* game in Brazil. There is essentially no pool here.
