This wood is sometimes confused with Palisander which comes from Madagascar.
This wood comes from Brazil and happens to share the same Botanical name.
(Dalbergia Baronii) Is now an established replacement in lutherie circles for Brazillian Rosewood. This is a fantastic, inexpensive wonderful looking and sounding wood. It substitutes perfectly for Brazillian Rosewood except for the color.
If you want something different for your cue try this wood--it smells great
when cutting it and it is very stable.
It is rare and only available in limited quantities. These pieces were salvaged
from an abandoned farm house in Bahia.
