Brazilian rosewood vs bocote

Which wood has the better hit? Why do you think it is better? Thanks, John

Both are excellent cue woods. Many will tell you the first choice is gonna be the Brazilian Rosewood. There is a reason it has been so sought after by guitar manufacturers and cue makers alike....to the point of pushing into the 'endangered species' category. As a result, a good piece of Brazilian is gonna cost you a premium.

Bocote.....I like bocote, and I think it gets a bad rep because it many consider it just ugly. Plays great, terrific feedback...really kinda hard not to like as a 'playing' wood...and much less expensive than the Brazilian. I have run across some gorgeously figured bocote full of birds eyes...played terrific!

hmmm

Both are good looking woods.... collectability wise..... Rosewood wins hands down.

I had a Brazilian rosewood plain jane and a bacote full splice at the same time. Both had the same pin type so I could put the same shaft on either one. I preferred the hit of the bacote hands down... very crisp in comparison. But I preferred the look of the brazillian rosewood. It made a classy looking cue.

My favorite woods for hit... full splice with purpleheart forearm and bacote handle. I have two cues like this and love them. They may not be pretty but I don't have to worry about anyone stealing them.
